Armored Spirit Bear on Etsy
I won't lie, I was so excited about this guy, I took about sixty different shots. This is the same spirit bear as pictured in our Killarney park photo, with considerable armor upgrades courtesy of
, whose work is just gorgeous. The maille itself is made partially using rubber rings so it can be removed, and features swarovski crystals... because if you're riding an armored bear into battle, you might as well bling that sucker up a bit.
The bear himself is roughly 5" tall at the withers on all fours, about 10.5" long, and 11" standing on his hind feet. His head and feet are cast in resin from our original sculpts, hand painted and sealed then assembled using ball and socket joints for a realistic range of movement and durability. His pelt is a collection of creamy faux furs, sewn by Bones the patient.

Reminds me of the Golden Compass book, with the armored bears. It also reminds me of the third Red Alert game, where armored bears fought on the Soviet side. Guess there is some inspiration.
