Basilisks - Colour Scheme Tests by WormsandBones Basilisks - Colour Scheme Tests by WormsandBones
Three more basilisks! With these guys, we wanted to try out some new colour schemes that will possibly go into our 'playbook' of colour schemes available to order... depending on how well they're received. Opinions on which you find most appealing and why most appreciated!

So far we're calling them:
- Sky blue
- Dusk
- Bone & black

Everybody here is available on etsy (any stragglers will be stuffed in our rubbermaid totes and carted off to ComicCon... haha).

As always, these guys are fully articulated with ball joints, so they're infinitely poseable and won't break down over time. Their heads and feet are cast resin from our original sculpts, then hand painted, sealed and assembled with their hand made bodies. Everyone here might well be carnivorous, but they're all vegan friendly in terms of their materials. :D

Each one has a small loop at the base of their tail as well that allows them to be pinned to your shoulder, or bag, or... shower curtain I guess if that's your thing.

Anyway if anyone has any ideas on colour schemes they'd like to see, or think might go over well we'd love to hear them!

I've always preferred darker colour schemes. My first pic would be "Dusk", I love the multi-coloured mane and tail-tip on him! Second would be "Bone & Black", always a classic - and classy - colour combo. For myself, I'd never want a pale blue one, but I have friends who would put that colour scheme at the top of their list!

I'm in the same boat as you; I like the darker colour schemes as a rule. We're definitely keeping dusk for now, and sky blue will stay as well, we're just on the fence about bone and black since it seems like it needs a little something extra to 'finish' it.

I wonder...with the bone-n-black, if some colour-tipping on the ruff and tail-puff would do the trick? Maybe a cobalt blue, to match his eyes? Or perhaps a touch of dark-cherry red?

Faves are the Sky blue and Bone & black ones. The colors are nice together, and they have just the right amount of contrast. The Dusk one is kind of just overall too dark for my tastes. The colors are gorgeous, don't get me wrong, just they're so similar. Those black and purple furs are beautiful, though. If I were to get one, though, I'd want the Bone one or the Blue one. :)

Dusk is definitely an overall dark; its not much on contrast, but its something we don't really have in a set colour scheme. We like contrast (or at least I do, and I bully Bones into making things higher contrast fairly regularly), so we tend to do things with a LOT of contrast.
Blue is almost always a bit hit at any event we do, so it'll likely stick around. Bone n' black may not, simply because its a little bland I think...

The bone and black one reminds me a bit of a penguin, it's super awesome. :D
Wish I would've been able to catch these guys when they were for sale. <3
I've seen some but I'd love to see some orange/honey colored ones that are sort of sunset colors maybe? Not like bright yellow or red, just sort of subtle orange.

Oh man, I didn't even think of penguin but I definitely see it now! Wonder if we should make one even MORE penguin-like, maybe dye a bit of yellow into its throat fur... hrmm!

They went pretty quickly which we weren't really expecting. We did just remake a second dusk (slightly different paint job as always) which I need to put on etsy once I'm finished with DA comment catch-up.

Subtle colours are really hard to come by in quality furs. Since we don't use real fur, and we don't buy in enough quantity to have specific dye lots made just for us we're limited in what we can get our hands on. We do have a REALLY nice sort of burnt-orange with white tips, but its a little too dense for these guys, so we have to save it for larger monsters.

That would be awesome! I love characteristic markings on other species.

I saw that one, I might have to go for it if he's not sold by the time I can get it. <3

That sounds amazing though, I'd love to see that burnt orange on something.

That purple/dark blue fur is stunning! The fur you are using on these critters gets more and more epic =D
